Cai Rang ranked the world’s most impressive markets

Cai Rang marketIn the list of the most fantastic food markets in the world, ranked by Rough Guide magazine (UK), Cai Rang floating market of Vietnam is described very unique with colorful boats selling fruit.

Cai Rang Floating Market is open all day but it is busiest from sunrise to about 9am. The main items sold there are farm products and specialties of Cai Rang Town, Chau Thanh District and neighboring areas. Every boat has a long upright pole at its bow on which samples of the goods for sale are hung.

Rough Guide wrote: “Visiting the floating market in Cai Rang, southern Vietnam, is a must-do activity when in the Mekong Delta. A huge spread of produce is on sale from a fleet of brightly colored boats, most advertising their wares from the top of a long pole attached to their vessel. The market starts early – 5am – and finishes by midday, so go in good time to get the very best goods.”

    Other markets include:

Kashgar Market (China), Viktualienmarkt (Germany), Castries Market (St Lucia), Queen Victoria Market (Australia), Mercato Coperto (Italy), Union Square Greenmarket (USA), St Lawrence Market (Canada), Kowloon City Wet Market (Hong Kong), La Boqueria (Spain), Cours Saleya (France), Tsukiji Fish Market (Japan), Ferry Plaza Farmers’ Market (USA), Grand Bazaar (Istanbul), Borough Market (UK), Mercado Central (Chile), Kreta Ayer Wet Market (Singapore), English Market (Ireland), and Kauppatori Market (Finland).
