Dien Bien Culture WeekA gala night and street caravan on Thursday are the curtain raisers to the Dien Bien Cultural and Tourism Week, which will feature a series of activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.

Named Hoa Ban Khoe Sac (literally meaning ban flower in the full bloom), the art programme is to kick off the Week of Dien Bien Culture and Tourism.

The Dien Bien Phu provincial People’s Committee and the General Administration of Tourism, VNAT, jointly held a conference on promoting the special values of the Dien Bien Phu historical relic site in order to boost tourism in the province and throughout the northwestern region.

Hoang Thi Diep, VNAT Deputy General Director, said: “The Dien Bien Phu historical relic site is a special tourist resource for the province and the country. Exploiting the values of historical sites aims not only to promote tourism but also to represent patriotism and the nation’s revolutionary traditions. Dien Bien Phu is recognized as one of 46 potential major national tourism sites. The province has worked to preserve the site’s value and attract a large number of tourists, contributing to the province’s economic development.”

The delegates discussed measures to best promote Dien Bien Phu’s historic values and create a tourism connection among 7 northwestern provinces together with Laos, Thailand, and China.

Dien Bien province is running a mobile book exhibition publishing the province’s culture, people, and historical milestones.
